1. Angel of Independence

The official city symbol, you can climb up 12 levels for great views from the top. Getting inside and looking at the memorials and the vistas from up high cost nothing. Remembering the Mexican War of Independence, locals are really quite proud of this lovely monument.

2. Plaza de la Constitucion

Also known more informally as the Zocalo, it is one of the biggest public squares in the whole world. A bustling hive of activity, it is the heart of cultural political and social activities where you can see people from all walks of life, including sales people, musicians, students, travellers, and more. Catch a flag ceremony every day and watch the palace guards perform their rituals. Interesting and important buildings dotted the both sides including the National Palace, the National Cathedral, some historic ruins, and a number of government buildings.

3. Polanco

This side of the city is an affluent part of Mexico City. Stroll around you will see a number of modern buildings, good quality restaurants, and high end shops. Polanco is where the Soumaya Museum is tucked.

4. Palacio de Bellas Artes

Palacio de Bellas Artes is an important place for local culture. A variety of performances are often held here and it offers great information into the city’s architecture as well as the different art displays and exhibits.

5. Coyoacan

Coyoacan boasts delightful cobbled streets, shaded squares, and quaint and colourful homes from the days of colonial rule. There are also plenty of nice shops to visit around as well as numerous small art galleries.
