1. Visit Born Centre Cultural

This stunning archaeological exhibition space will bring you back to medieval time with the ruins of War of Spanish Succession in 1714, where the visitors can roam around for free! Soak up the history while strolling around the slatted iron and patterned brickwood.

2. Wander around the Born neighbourhood

Get lost in Barcelona’s loveliest neighborhood complete with medieval architecture, charming cafes and quirky boutiques. Check out the Santa Maria del Mar church and the restores Born Center Cultural in the Passeig del Born. Walk some more and discover the Modernista Palau de la Música concert hall, the Santa Pere church, and the colourful Santa Caterina market all above the C/Princesa on the northern section of Born.

3. Stroll through La Rambla

Soak up the Spanish vibes on La Rambla, the most famous street in Barcelona, which is a mile-long avenue popular for its colourful flower stalls, souvenir shops, Miró’s pavement mosaic, wax and erotic museums along the boulevard, the the Palau de la Virreina information centre and exhibition space and the awesome food market. Start at the Columbus Monument and finish at the Plaça Catalunya.

4. Go to Montjuïc

Take a hike to the hill of Montjuïc and check out the museums like MNAC, the Fundació Joan Miró, and the Olympic, archaeological and ethnological museums. Soak up the scenic views of the manicured gardens, the castle and other beautiful architecture surrounding the Olympic stadium complex with an outdoor swimming pool. Also, an outdoor cinema festival called Sala Montjuïc takes place in the moat of the castle during the summer.

5. Hang out at Parc de la Ciutadella

Spend an afternoon hanging out at the park, watch some kids learning roller skate or cycle, listen to the musicians playing their instruments, and the dog walkers with their cute pooches.  Ciutadella will not run out of activities as there’s also a lake where you can go boating, a waterfall hat was partly designed by Gaudí himself, a zoo, picnic zones, and an outdoor ping pong tables. And here’s tip, if you want a moment of silence to devour a book, sit next to the pond in the formal rose gardens.

6. Bask at Platja de Barceloneta

A great trip wouldn’t be complete without having a dose of sun and sea. Hit the Platja de Barceloneta, the city’s beach that has rock pools and a rope climbing frame. The water is clean and is very safe for swimming. Sunbathe along its 7 kilometers of sand, that gets more silent the further you stroll down towards the Fòrum.

7. Say a prayer at Santa Maria del Mar

Churches in Europe are so beautifully designed and one of those is the Santa Maria del Mar, a 14th-century church in Barcelona you don’t want to miss that is so captivating inside. Dubbed as the “people’s cathedral,” it’s free of the frills and furbelows found in most Catholic churches, making it so beautiful and its architecture easier to appreciate.
