Bordeaux, also known as Port of the Moon, is one of the most beautiful cities in France with stunning atmosphere and many protected buildings than any other city. Best thing about Bordeaux? There are a lot of things which you can do for free!

1. Get awed by Place de la Bourse

Take in Bordeaux’s magnificent 18th century architecture at its finest, also known as Place Royale. It is situated on the banks of the river Garonne and has a fountain at the center, making the place more dramatic especially when it’s lit up during the night.

2. Drop by Chartreuse Cemetery

Many famous people are buried here which is equal to Père-Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. It may sound a bit creepy but it’s a good place to have a stroll and discover more of Bordeaux’s history.

3. Explore Place de la Victoire

Stroll around the longest walking route in Bordeaux tucked at the junction of four main roads and soak up the city’s culture.

4. Discover Cour Mably

Marvel at the beautiful cloisters and sculptures at Cour Mably. It was once a Dominican monastery and now it houses state offices and holds art exhibitions and cultural events, even some concerts in the outdoor courtyard. You can go to the Notre Dame church after.

5. Explore Sunday Markets

Enjoy browsing through fresh and organic produce and try free samples on Sunday morning! Or, go to Saint Michel’s flea market after.

6. Visit Cathédrale St-André

Say a prayer in this Cathedral which building dominates Bordeaux. Get inside the church for free except the lovely gargoyle bell tower.
