Second City Hollywood is hosting its first open house of the year with FREE workshops and shows this Sunday, January 3.

No experience is necessary to attend and most classes and shows are open to all. Family-friendly shows held before 6:00pm (things get a little racier in the evening!).

This is the first of Second City’s two open houses per year, with the second open house will take place on August 27.

Open House activities will include: improv and writing classes for all ages, as well as shows. We have the full breakdown and schedule after the jump.

12:00pm: The Really Awesome Improv Show*

Family fun (and appropriate) for ages 2 and up, featuring improv games that rely on audience participation.

1:00pm: Sound and the Furry*

A team of incredibly talented musical improvisers… with puppets. Let the hilarity ensue.

2:00pm: Youth Bingo hosted by Principal’s Office!*

Youth (18years or younger) are picked from the hopper to play with the Second City Youth Teachers!

3:00pm: The Really Awesome Improv Show*

4:00pm: Octavarius: Solving the Truth*

From world news to local gossip, it’s impossible to know the truth. Three best friends Brian, Keith and Marc take you on a journey to uncover the “it.”

5:00pm: Andy! The Improvised Musical

A reimagining of an orphan kid’s journey from the slums to the top, using audience suggestions!

7:00pm: The 313

The 313 is a powerhouse squad that has rocked houses and destroyed hotels together since 2004! Cast: Larry Joe Campbell, Andy Cobb, Joshua Funk, Nyima Funk, Nancy Hayden, Mark Evan Jackson, Keegan-Michael Key, Maribeth Monroe, Jaime Moyer, Sam Richardson and Marc Warzecha.

8:00pm: Bingo hosted by Triumph!

Students are picked from the hopper to play with the seasoned Alumni of Triumph.

9:00pm: Mama’s Boy

Second City ladies, Nancy Edwards, Nyima Funk, Maribeth Monroe, Jaime Moyer and Amy Phillips perform some mad mama improv with one special guest dude!

10:00pm: Kindred Throats

Kevin Stafford and Todd Risenmay are a musical duo attempting to solve the world’s problems, big and small, through the power and beauty of song. Directed by: Kasey Needham.

SUGGESTIONS FOR THE WORKSHOP:

ALL IMPROV – Wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in easily, no skirts ladies. Please wear closed toed shoes, do not wear flip flops or sandals.
WRITING – Bring either pen/paper or your laptop.
