Experience Miami Design District’s Art and Design Night

Every second Saturday of the month, Miami Design District hypes up the place by opening their doors to the public from 7-10pm for the Design District Art Walk. Talking about the over 100 galleries and showrooms in the District! What’s making it more fun is that the restaurants and bars in the area  provide entertainment and refreshments.

Explore Little Havana

They say no trip to Miami is complete without a visit to Little Havana which has amazing art galleries, awesome shops and many restaurants and bars. First, you need to head to Maximo Gomez Park, also known as Domino Park by the locals, for a taste of Hispanic culture like watching men playing dominoes outdoors while smoking cigars and arguing about politics.

Another spot is the Little Havana Paseo de las Estrellas which means Walk of the Stars. If you you’re a fan of Latin Cinema, you are going to love this place which is Latin America’s version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

There’s the Viernes Culturales, too, a.k.a. Cultural Fridays, monthly events in Little Havana showcasing local musicians and outdoor art exhibits for free!

Get a Free Sky Ride

Who doesn’t want a free ride of the sky train that links many of Miami’s downtown hotels with the Metrorail? Introducing, the Metromover! You can stop off at the 20 stops like the Freedom Tower or the Miami-Dade Cultural Center. In case you get lost, a digital display in the center of the platform tells you where each car is heading. Avoid the Metromeover during rush hour though!

Visit the Miami Art Museum

Visit the Miami Art Museum on the Second Saturday of each month, from 1pm to 4pm for a free admission for you and your family. Yes, that’s right! You can enjoy exhibitions with your kids, create art and learn something new without spending a dime. Best time to visit the museum is during the Miami Art Museum Family Festival where lots of activities, entertainment, and games fill the Miami-Dade Cultural Plaza.

Bask in South Beach

You’ve never been to Miami if you skip its beaches. South beach is famous that has anything to offer. There’s Lummus Park Beach if you like people watching, South Pointe Park for the children that has a playground and splash fountain, and Miami Beach Botanical Garden if you want lesser crowd.

You can also head to the beautiful Art Deco hotels and houses, like Casa Casuarina, the former home and murder site of the late fashion designer Gianni Versace. The Holocaust Museum, the Wolfsonian-FIU Art Museum, and the Jewish Museum of Florida often waive their admission fees on certain days.

Enjoy South Pointe Park with the Family

Your kids will surely have fun in Tot Lot that has an interactive water fountain/sculpture, a dog park, and plenty of bike paths.

Marvel at Gables Art Walk

Another destination for the art lovers is Ponce de Leon Boulevard that consists some of Miami’s inspiring art galleries. Explore the place every first Friday of the month from 7-10pm for free. And oh, enjoy the galleries’ complimentary wine!
