Calling all hiking enthusiasts!

Celebrate National Trails Day, the nation’s largest celebration of trails and the outdoors, in the Golden Gate National Parks on June 3, 2017 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for free!

“The National Park Service is realigning the trail at this historic Marin Headlands site to elevate safety and accessibility for visitors, improve drainage to prevent erosion, and create a larger protective barrier for endangered Mission Blue butterfly habitat. With direction from trail crew staff and interns, volunteers will build post and cable fence along this new section of trail,” Funcheap SF wrote.

Park teams and partners like One TamREI, and American Hiking Society, will host a series of trail and habitat restoration projects throughout the park such as in Marin, San Mateo, and San Francisco.

Lunch will be provided as well as free t-shirts and swag, courtesy of REI. Volunteers 14+ welcome. Projects are moderately strenuous. Trail to project site is steep.
