Come to the launching of Vanessa Hua’s debut collection entitled “Deceit and Other Possibilities” this coming Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 7:30pm to 9:00pm at The Booksmith in San Francisco, California.
Hua will will talk with Oscar Villalon, an editor from ZYZZYVA. The book is about the conflict between self and society, tradition and change which will be vividly illustrated by characters like a Hong Kong movie idol who flees a sex scandal, a Chinatown leader who is summoned to hhis ancestral village, a Korean-American pastor who is hiding a secret agenda, and an obedient daughter who lies about attending Stanford.
Join Hua as she explores the clash of cultures, changing allegiances they have with them as they make their way to a new land.
